taper
Any object, member, or system which gradually becomes a smaller dimension at one end when compared to the other.

Commonly, roof insulation is tapered on a flat roof, to allow for the automatic drainage of rain water to a scupper.
In other instances, certain parts of a member may be tapered, such as the flanges in an i-beam.
