A receptacle, also commonly known as an electrical outlet, is the component which is embedded into a wall. In typical residential applications in the United States, the receptacles will be 120 volt for common appliance usage, but 240 volt for fixed units, such as the [[range]], washers and dryers, refrigerators, etc.
