Hydration is the process by which [[concrete]] hardens. Concrete does not dry; the potable water in the concrete mix undergoes a chemical bonding process with the [[PortlandCement Portland cement]] in the concrete. This process is known is hydration, and never stops (the process will continue even after the concrete has hardened, albeit at an exponentially low rate). Concrete is generally considered set after it has hardened to its predefined design strength.
