EIFS (pronounced ee-phis) stands for **Exterior Insulation Finish System**, and is a modern alternative to stucco (and accordingly, is sometimes referred to as //synthetic stucco//). It consists of a minimum of five layers, which is mounted on exterior [[sheathing]]:
- Adhesive
- [[RigidInsulation Insulation Board]]
- Base Coat
- Fiberglass reinforcing mesh
- Finish coat
The finish coat is colored to the desired finish color.
